Steel shoes were used for many years as racing shoes. When aluminum alloys were developed to withstand the demands of the racing market, they quickly became the shoe of choice. Today, steel training shoes are used primarily for the sales and breeding stock. They are sometimes used in the early training stages, though this is not as common as in the past.
The Kerckhaert DR training come light or heavy. The shoe shape, nail placement and fit, make shoeing the yearling or two year old easier. It is a symmetrical shoe.
